September is nationally observed as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, represented by the gold ribbon that honors the value of every child. Awareness fuels research and support for families facing pediatric cancer.
Why Ongoing Research Matters
Pediatric cancers are relatively rare, yet remain the leading cause of death from disease in U.S. children. Continued research improves survival and quality of life and brings new therapies forward. Approximately 9,500-15,700 children and adolescents ages 0 to 19 will be diagnosed in the United States, and 1,590 will die from the disease, underscoring the need for sustained investment in research.

Children’s Wisconsin and Children’s Research Institute
Children’s Wisconsin advances pediatric oncology research and care through the MACC Fund Center and Children’s Research Institute, with philanthropy directly supporting trials, discovery science, and care innovations.
