The 2027 Bats Just Landed at Burghardt

The 2027 bats are in. Here is a plain look at five new models and who each one is built for.

Every year the new bats show up and the same question walks up to the counter with them. Which one should I get. There is no single answer, because the right bat depends on your league, your swing, and how the barrel feels in your hands. What we can do is tell you straight what each of these five is built for, then hand you one and point you toward a cage. Here is the rundown on the 2027 models we just put out.

First, the one thing that decides everything

Before feel, before brand, before color, check the stamp. Your league decides which certification you need, and that splits these five bats into two groups. Four are BBCOR, the standard for high school and college. One, the Supra, is USSSA, made for youth travel ball.

In Wisconsin, high school baseball runs under the WIAA, which follows the NFHS rule requiring a BBCOR bat. If your player is on a high school roster, they need one of the four BBCOR bats above. If they are swinging in a USSSA travel league, the Supra is the one to look at.

The four BBCOR bats, and how each one swings

The DeMarini Exile is a one-piece alloy bat, which is about as honest as a bat gets. It is stiff, it tells you exactly where you hit the ball, and it is ready the second you pull off the wrapper. DeMarini built it around the X14 alloy barrel with a light composite end cap and a Damplify knob that takes some of the sting out of a jammed swing. A hitter who likes clean feedback and a quick barrel will feel at home with it.

The DeMarini The Goods is the power bat of the group. It pairs the X14 alloy barrel with a Paraflex composite handle, and it carries its weight out toward the end of the barrel. That end-loaded feel rewards a stronger hitter who can whip it through the zone and wants mass behind the ball. If your swing has some thump to it, this is the one to try first.

The Marucci RCKLESS is Marucci's one-piece alloy in the new generation, with a CNC-machined AZR alloy barrel and an AV3 dampener to quiet the buzz. It swings balanced, so the weight sits closer to your hands and the bat comes around fast. Contact hitters and players who want control through the zone tend to gravitate to a bat like this.

The Easton Hype Fire is the two-piece composite in the BBCOR lineup. The TCT composite barrel flexes on contact for a wide, forgiving sweet spot, and the ConneXion Max piece between the barrel and handle keeps the feel smooth even when you miss the barrel a little. It reads softer through contact than the alloy bats. Composite does ask for a break-in, which we get into below.

The USSSA bat for the younger crew

The Louisville Slugger Supra in the -10 is a two-piece composite built for travel-ball hitters. The APX composite barrel compresses and springs back on contact, and the big 2 ¾ inch profile gives a young hitter a generous sweet spot to find. It swings balanced, which helps a smaller player keep the barrel under control and get it to the ball on time.

Swing them before you spend

This is the part that makes buying a bat here different. We have four indoor batting tunnels, and they are walk-in with no reservation, so you do not have to book ahead to hit. The Demo House inside the cages lets you borrow a bat and a helmet for free, which means you can take a 2027 model into a tunnel and actually hit with it before you decide. Bring the two or three you are torn between and compare them back to back in one session.
